ABOUT ME

My name is Camryn Walters and I am from Avon, Ohio, a suburb about 20 minutes away from Cleveland, Ohio. I was born in Lansing, Michigan and lived right by the Michigan State University campus until I was seven, when we moved to Avon. I have one younger brother named Leo and a pet dog named Cleo. Fun fact: Leo and I were both born on September 25th. I was born in 1999 and he was born in 2004.

I am majoring in Secondary Education Mathematics, and I have wanted to be a teacher since fourth grade. As a little kid I also dabbled in wanting to be a geologist or paleontologist until I found my passion for helping others learn. After I took geometry in high school, I knew I wanted to be a math teacher. I love math, especially geometry, and I am very excited to begin my career spreading the joy of learning math (or at least tolerating math).

I am also extremely passionate about photography, movies and filmmaking, traveling, nature, and National Parks. I have been to 13 National Parks so far and it is my ultimate goal in life to go to all of them. I have been to Cuyahoga Valley, Yellowstone, Wind Cave, Badlands, Petrified Forest, Grand Canyon, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Capitol Reef, Arches, Great Smoky Mountains, and Death Valley.

On campus I am the Vice President of Activity Planning for the Cincinnati chapter of College Mentors for Kids, I am a University Honors Program Ambassador, a CECH Ambassador, and a former Gateway Peer Leader. This year I am also a member of the Student Leader Roundtable, a group of student leaders working together to navigate college campuses during COVID. I also joined a team to design a pre-approved honors experience coordinating with the organization Adopt-A-Class.

I am looking forward to graduating in May, as well as taking full advantage of my last year in college even though it doesn't look the same as I expected.
