ROMAN EXPERIENCE SHOWCASE

This experience involved a class on the art, architecture, and engineering of Ancient Rome and the Renaissance. The class was supposed to be followed by a nine day long study tour to Italy, where we would spend three days in Florence and six days in Rome. Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus that trip had to be cancelled. Then, the University went online so for a class that we were supposed to be spending nine days straight with we now had online once a week. In January I had no idea that this would happen, it was incredible how situations can escalate so quickly. I remember in a two week period we went from 100% going to the entire school being online. Even though it didn't live up to expectations, it still ended up being quite the experience because of my final project.

Before the trip was cancelled, I had planned on making a video in Italy for my final project because of my love for YouTube travel video compilations. I think those videos are such a great art form and can really serve as a lasting memory for an important trip. I especially thought it was fitting since it would be my first time out of a country, and the class was art-focused and this would be an entirely different form of art than what we studied in the class. However, I wasn't able to make the video in Italy, but then I got to practice using a green screen. I still made my video and turned it in. A few days later, I woke up to multiple emails from different faculty members complimenting my video and asking to share it with others. I honestly didn't expect people to enjoy it this much, but I'm glad everyone did. This has been my favorite thing I have done, so in the end it was all ok that the trip didn't happen.
